Murchison Falls N.P lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley, stretching up to Bunyoro region. Murchison Falls, is Uganda’s largest National Park gazetted as the country’s first national parks in 1952. The park is bisected by the world’s longest river (R.Nile) which incredibly squeezes through a narrow 8m wide gorge and then eventually plunges 45m over the remnant rift valley wall, with a thunderous roar into the “Devil’s Cauldron”, to form the world’s strongest waters falls to create an almost permanent rainbow trademark for tourists and later an 80km stretch of rapids.
Its vegetation in the north is characterized with savanna, Borassus palms, acacia trees and riverine wood while in south, its woodland and forest patches.
