Park Brief
Lake Mburo N.P was the fourth park to be gazetted in Uganda and it’s the country’s smallest Savannah National Park with an estimated area of 337 sqkm.The park has 5 Large lakes and it derives its name from Lake Mburo, the park’s largest lake. It has vast coverage of Wetland habitats comprising 20% of its surface. It has a big number of bird’s species, mammals with the highest number of Impala and Elands.
The parks’ precarious past has seen wildlife virtually eliminated several times: firstly, in various attempts to rid the region of tsetse flies and encroachment from surrounding cattle keeping communities. Its Uganda’s best park for an excursion(one-day tour) from Kampala capital city since its conveniently close to the highway that connects Kampala to the parks of western Uganda. In addition due to its rich vegetation cover, the park is characterized with ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks which date back more than 500 million years, 350 bird species a number of mammals.

Easiest way to explore this park (1day). It’s possible for visitors sleeping in Entebbe/Kampala (Uganda) to drive direct to the park, do activities and come back late evening to Kampala.
